'Iolani School has an opening for an upper elementary science teaching position in the Lower School for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate a passion for science education and the ability to inspire and support our students in the development of their minds, body, and spirit. Candidates should have knowledge of positive classroom management strategies, social-emotional development of primary-aged children, and engaging instructional approaches. In addition to being active participants in our vibrant learning community, we are looking for educators committed to ongoing professional growth within their disciplines and teaching practice. The successful candidate is a dynamic and strong communicator (both written and oral), possesses a reflective, curious attitude, and is collaborative.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Education, Science Education, Curriculum and Teaching, or a related field in addition to a minimum of three years of full-time classroom teaching experience in the elementary grades. Specific knowledge of curriculum and instruction in elementary school science and experience with outdoor education and gardening curricula are preferred. A master's degree and previous experience at an independent school are preferred.
